FALA Volunteer Corps
Last week, I came to the FALA Campus in the early afternoon to pick up my Daughter. It was the day before school was about to be off for the Winter Break. As I walked around the building towards the Front Office, I was immediately flagged down by Sarah Buss waving at me from under the Art area with the biggest smile on her face. She yelled across the courtyard a big “Thank You!”
At first, I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about… I smiled back at her trying to cover my confusion – and as I yelled a “Your Welcome” I finally realized what she meant.
That day, the Appreciation Team had brought in fresh baked Biscotti (which was baked by the volunteers) and Coffee/Tea (which was Donated by White Dove Coffee) for the Teachers and Staff. I had totally forgotten that it was that day because my Team is so self-sufficient. Yes, they had kept me in the loop via email about their ideas, but they are such an amazing group with so much initiative that I had totally forgotten what they were up to…!
I have to tell you all that I have such a sense of pride. A neat feeling that keeps coming back to me as I think about not only the energy that these people are giving to the school, but also the response that was so open and honest. It is exactly what I had hoped when we all put together this team! Success is a great feeling.
So, I’d like to simply say “Thank you” to all of my awesome volunteers for allowing me to share in this emotion. A special shout-out to the Appreciation Team – Alisa Ashley, Sherri O’Neil, Gessica Neilson, Laurah Hagen, and Melissa Rhodes.
